An Evening with 민병철

Above is a little video of me assisting Dr Min Byoung Chul earlier this week.

One of the most important lessons Dr Min talked about was this:-

“Learn only the English you need”

What he means by this is that you should learn the English you need so that you will practice and use. More advanced English can come later. What you need to do is to use English as much as you can, and to do this you need to learn the English you WILL learn.

So get practicing guys.

Twitter – A Great way to learn English

Here’s a great way to learn English. First join Twitter. Below is a simple video explaining what Twitter is:

After you have created your Twitter account you can then start searching for people to follow. If you are interested in business then I would recommend the following

Guy Kawasaki

Tony Robbins

Garr Reynolds

Or if you are interested in celebrities try:

Demi Moore

Just search names of people you are interested in and start following. The posts are short and the English should be easy to follow.

Of course you could follow me. Click here

English Reading

Here’s a great way to get more reading done.

Reading in English is quite possibly the quickest way to improve your grammar and vocabulary. The mistake most students make is that they go to a book shop and buy a famous book such as The Old Man and The Sea, or Pride and Prejudice. While these books are considered ‘classics’, they are very difficult to read and are full of old fashioned words and phrases.

The best way to read is to read things you are interested in. For example, if you are interested in celebrities or photography then you should read blogs on those subjects.

One way of saving your favourites is to use this amazing new website called Alltop. I’ve been using it for a while now and I now find I use it everyday. Check it out. Click HERE

Plan To Study

One of the most incredible things that I see everyday is the number of students learning English that have no plan. They have no idea what they really want, they just think it is important to learn English.

Sadly, life is not like that. You need an end goal. You need a target.

So, as part of a free gift to you, as an FESBlog reader, you can download our study planner.

All you have to do is download and print out the document. Then pin it to the wall. The important thing here is that you take your time. Think it through carefully. be realistic. You will not be speaking fluently next month if you are just starting to learn English. It takes time.

Presenting In English

Presentation Zen has an interesting blog post about presenting in English. Click here to view

The less text and graphs you put in your presentation, the less likely your audience will fall asleep. Think about how you feel when you are faced with a slide full of text, graphs and charts … do you go “oh no! I’m dying of bordom?”
